Bob was valedictorian of his class. He was a 3 year letterman in Basketball. Captain of the 1960 team. ( did not have football then).
Bob was appointed to the US Naval Academy by Congressman Bob Dole. After he graduated he served in the Navy for 12 years and reached Lt Commander. He served in Vietnam for 4 tours. Obviously a tremendous commitment to his country.
Bob then worked in the engineering industry for rest of his career. For the last 15 years of his business career he served as a liaison for Black and Veatch in working with Congress in Washington. This provided him international relationships that were important for his company and his country.
Bob always worked with his local parish whether it be in Salina Topeka or Lawrence. His faith was the bedrock that carried him through ALL his life experiences.
When his father died at age 41 Bob was the oldest of the 4 boys. He was 13. He took on the role of strength for our Mother and his 3 brothers. Even with much family challenges and pressures he excelled at Sacred Heart. He was a man of compassion intellect and character.
